Power and Responsibilities of Haryana Panchayats

  • All Anganwadi centers and state run primary schools will function under the supervision of Panchayats.
  • Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions will also be the members of Selection Committee for Anganwadi assistants and workers.
  • The women members nominated by the Zila Parishads and Panchayat Committees can take Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) with them for inspecting the Anganwad centres.
  • Gram P'anchayat recommends the people eligible for old age pension, widow pension, disability pension, etc.
  • Gram Panchayat supervises the Public Distribution System in the villages and undertakes distribution of Ration Cards. It also report the short comings of Public Distribution system to the Controller of Gram Panchayat food and supplies.
  • On the recommendations of Panchayati Samiti, Non - conventional sources of fuel like biogas plant and improved chulha are made available to people. In this regard, Gram Panchayat reported to Panchayat Samiti.
  • Gram Panchayat also prepares Annual Development Plans and Budget Plans and also organises sports competitions on district and block level.
  • If any person of any village is taken into custody by police, then the Police Station Officer informs the Sarpanch in this regard.
